Sharel C. Ongchin, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist with specialized training in medical retina. She earned her medical degree from the University of Southern California — Keck School of Medicine. After completing her residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, Dr. Ongchin completed a medical retina/uveitis fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, United Kingdom. Her areas of clinical focus include treatment for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and ocular inflammatory conditions including uveitis.
Dr. Ongchin has published and presented several articles, and volunteered with many organizations around the world. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Ongchin is fluent in Spanish and conversational French. She enjoys hiking, travel, arts and crafts, piano and flute.
